The pieces are a result of the transformation of 100 tin cans, dissected to become 300 individual brooches. Throughout this process I heavily transformed these objects still respecting their original essence, hence maintaining traces of their past existence.

The project is based on the idea that, although in society there is the tendency to stereotype or classify each individual in separate groups of belongings, culminating in a social sentence that can bring to marginalization, there is still space for expressing individuality and ultimately redemption.

The title of this series is Nomen Nescio (name assigned to unknown or unnamed people – from Latin – ‘I do not know the name’) because these brooches are part of a group that I am unwilling to define; each piece instead has a name taken from the Italian dictionary of names and a passport, characteristics that emphasize their obtained individuality.

One of the three series of brooches supports Oxfam Italia’s campaign Stand as One: a percentage of the sales will be donated to give help and protection to the millions of people forced to flee conflict, disaster and poverty.

Each piece has a passport which states its gained individuality.
